Madison Christian Church

Devotional April 1, 2019

I read an
article about the fact that many popular Christian authors are teaching things
that are unbiblical.  One example the
author cited is the way some writers confuse uncontroversial statements with
moral positions.  For example, a popular
Christian writer posted on her Facebook page that she wanted to make it very
clear where she stood on some current social/moral issues.  And her way of making it clear was to say
that she “cherishes the humanity of the LGBT community.”

My reply
to that would be, “Well – no kidding!”
No Christian could be Biblically accurate and say, “I do not cherish the
humanity of _______________” (referring to any human being).  This was never the question.

The way
the author wrote that statement, makes it sound as though any Christian striving
to uphold a Biblical view of marriage and sexual ethics, does not cherish the
humanity of those among the LGBT community.
This author is misleading people.  That is not clarifying where she stands on the
real issue at hand which is, “What does God say about homosexuality and about
marriage?”.

We are
living in a time when many Christians are separating love from truth.  Why?
The answer is that our culture is dictating what “love” means.  As our culture is redefining many things, it
defines love as never opposing any behavior and validating all lifestyles.  According to our culture, you cannot say any
behavior is morally wrong and love the people involved in that behavior at the
same time.   Be discerning and compare
all teachings (including this devotional) to the Bible.

John said in 1 John 4:1 “Beloved,
do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from
God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
