I am glad to be back from vacation (as fun as it was). This past Sunday was what is annually referred to as Sanctity of Human Life Weekend. It was 45 years ago yesterday (Jan. 22nd) that abortion was legalized. Since that time approximately 60 million abortions have taken place in the U.S. So this Sunday, January 28th, I will be doing something different. Instead of preaching a sermon, I am going to be interviewing Lisa Cathcart who is the director of the Pregnancy Care Center on Lebanon Rd. in Old Hickory.
We are passionately pro-life as we believe that is a Biblical truth as Psalm 139:13-16, Isaiah 44:2 and Jeremiah 1:5 clearly state that life in the womb is the handiwork of God. In Luke 1:44, Elizabeth referred to the baby in her womb and not the blob of tissue.
So, we see this not as a political issue but a moral/Biblical issue. That’s why we support this ministry of the Pregnancy Care Center.
But that is not the only reason. We also support the PCC as they have made it their aim to love and minister to these women with the gospel and to make Christ-following disciples of them. They also reach out to the fathers of these babies.
Several churches have done this format with Lisa and found it to be a very enlightening time of worship talking about what God is doing through their efforts. Pray for Lisa and for me and for God’s blessing on the whole congregation.
We planned this at this time because yesterday (Jan. 22nd) was the 45th anniversary of the Roe vs. Wade decision that legalized abortion which has lead to approximately the death of approximately 60 million unborn babies. We need to ask God how He wants us to respond and show the love of Christ with real, lasting and life-changing solutions.
Be praying for Lisa, for me and our congregation during this interview and a devotional follow-up this Sunday. We look forward to seeing all who God will bring through the doors of this building. I hope you will be among them.
